Community-led Fundraisers Support Vital Programs at Morristown Medical Center

When the Morristown community sees a need at Morristown Medical Center, they quickly step in to ensure it is filled. Community-led fundraisers come in many different formats and champion of variety of causes, but each plays an important part in helping to further top-quality care at our medical center. Past fundraisers have played a crucial role in helping to seed innovative education programs, provide resources for pediatric cancer patients and much more. This past spring was no exception, with community members creating a variety of unique fundraisers, each benefitting Goryeb Children’s Hospital, to show their support for our patients and their families.

Just a few examples of their generosity in action include:

$50,000 Matching Challenge to benefit Goryeb Children’s Hospital/Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship – JustGiving

As a family-owned and run business, Carbro Constructors knows the importance of giving back. Inspired by the care his daughter received at Sam’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Carbro president, Anthony Caruso, Jr., PhD,  mobilized the family business along with local organizations C&H Agency and Trif & Modugno to organize a matching challenge that has raised more than $50,000 to-date. With the generous match, a total of more than $100,000 will go to support the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program at Sam’s NICU. This fellowship program will train the next generation of pediatric sub-specialists to help our youngest and most vulnerable patients.

The Green Family is fundraising for Team Sanaya Strong – JustGiving

As parents of a child with pediatric cancer, Stephen and Brenda Green have seen firsthand how the Child Life Team at the Valerie Fund Children’s Center at Goryeb Children’s Hospital helps make medical treatments more enjoyable for young patients. The way the team has cared for their daughter Sanaya throughout her cancer journey inspired the family to use the Brooklyn Half marathon as an opportunity to give back. Leading up to the race, friends and family donated to sponsor Sanaya’s Dad (Stephen Green) and Uncles (Alix Dejean, Sterling Green, Claudio Ledesma, Kofi Wilson and Kurt Adams) with proceeds benefitting the Child Life Team. Together, they raised more than $13,000 for this important cause.
