Project Independence
Project Independence is a patient assistance grant fund that helps individuals who are experiencing financial hardship due to their illness or hospitalization maintain their independence, self-esteem and dignity. Hospital caregivers and social workers identify financially burdened patients who would benefit from a one-time cash grant to assist with living expenses. An internal review committee then decides on the grants for these patients and families.

Parking for Patients
Parking fees at the hospital may present a burden to some families, especially to the underserved or those who have a family member hospitalized for an extended period. Recognizing this need, Claudia and Ken Silverman launched the Claudia and Kenneth Silverman Parking Program. social workers, patient liaisons and care managers can readily identify individuals who need financial assistance, and parking fees will be waived. Approximately 5,000 families will qualify for assistance over the lifetime of the fund.
