New moms at Morristown Medical Center are given the pleasure of a complimentary massage after delivery of their newborn. Now a leadership gift from David and Mary Beth Lohuis will expand these services, and women will have the advantage of massage, Jin Shin Jyutsu, aromatherapy and reflexology for the entire duration of their labor and delivery experience.
“Integrative Medicine comprehensively folds into our being as a whole,” says Mary Beth Lohuis, a New Vernon resident, actress and owner of the Lucky VIII Film Company. “It’s body, mind, spirit and how we effectively harmonize all we are about.”
There is a marked decrease in stress and anxiety among new mothers when holistic techniques are practiced effectively and mindfully.
“It’s very beneficial. This special kind of care encourages patients to visualize a progression in labor, which many times helps it to go quicker,” says Emilie Rowan, LCSW, manager of Atlantic Integrative Medicine.
