Gagnon has established a three-year Cardiac Fellowship Program through the American College of Graduate Medical Education. Through community philanthropy, the Health Foundation seeks funding to support up to six fellows.

A fellowship program not only imparts knowledge to future leaders in the profession, it also elevates the level of patient care because teachers in the program must be up-to-speed on the latest developments in the field. A fellowship program will also raise the visibility of Gagnon as physicians nationwide increasingly recognize the institute as a leader in cardiovascular care.
