On October 10, 2011, friends and family of the late Carolyn Worthington gathered to dedicate the garden that bears her name between Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute and Carol G. Simon Cancer Center. A former cancer patient and New Vernon Garden Club member, Ms. Worthington would await a ride home from her treatments in that once-barren space, envisioning the possibilities. Garden Club friends in both New Vernon and Madison took up the charge and created this new healing space. Dr. David Shulkin, president of the medical center; Dr. Brian Slomovitz, Ms. Worthington's physician; Jim Quinn, chief development officer of the Foundation; and Ms. Worthington's husband Mac and son Ken spoke at the gathering.
